Dear Prospective Members,
We’re all ready to open at Fynn Valley Golf Course on Good Friday 6th April – come along to get that swing going, from 10am. There’s also a season-opening Association Croquet club tournament on Sunday 8th April – all welcome of whatever standard. Starts at 9:30am
A huge amount of work has been put in over the past month by Steve Miller, Kit Kitson, and The Martins (Hart, Leach and French) and the new pavilion is ready. We’ve built the log cabin, painted it, and fitted it out – I hope you’ll be very impressed when you first see it.
The lawns are also coming along well, with a lot of work being put into them – they’ve been top-dressed twice in the past 10 days! We do however have a problem with where the trees were moved. This should have been done last Autumn but the ground was too dry and hard for the machine to work – so they were moved on 1st February (yes, in the snow!). Since then, the filled holes have kept sinking and it is quite likely we’ll have to spend the first month of the season with the right hand lawn (seen from the pavilion) being a little narrow, to avoid the holes and let the ground recover.
Whether you are an experienced player, someone who has played “garden croquet” or a complete beginner, you’ll be made welcome. Come along any Tuesday after 6pm or Wednesday afternoon from 2pm – or call Martin French on 01473 288448 to arrange a convenient time.
A reminder that if you join by the end of April you will get a discount on the subs: £100 (instead of £110) for Full Members and £50 (instead of £55) for Second Club members.
I look forward to seeing you soon on the lawns.
Martin French
Secretary
